Ongoing Projects:
Ongoing Projects:
- Covenant Support of Desiree Segura-April in Central America
- St. Marks Food Bank - Monthly cereal collection (November special appeal)
- On February 9th we donated about 45 boxes of cereal which included two large boxes of individual servings of cereal. Thank You!
- School supply and food pantry collection for Bester Elementary School
- We are reaching out to our Bester families to help with their food pantry. We are in need of flour, sugar, boxes of instant mashed potatoes, and boxes of macaroni and cheese. Families find it difficult at times to get to the grocery store or other Food Banks. Please leave items on the hallway table. Sherri Heil and I will deliver them to the school. Thank you for being a part of our South End neighborhood.
- January: Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry
- February: "Souper" Bowl for REACH Cold Weather Shelter
- Thank you for your gifts to REACH for “Souper Bowl” Sunday and the donations in the hallway box. We received $130.00. The items donated for the Cold Weather Shelter were delivered in February. This has been a very cold and wet winter. Your gifts will help our homeless know we care
- March: UMCOR Sunday (One Great Hour of Sharing)
- On March 7th giving envelopes will be placed on the table in the Narthex to be used to support UMCOR on March 14th. This donation allows UMCOR to use 100% of gifts given when disasters occur. Once a year on this special Sunday we help “lay the foundation” and provide funds to cover “administrative and fundraising costs” so that UMCOR can continue to be there wherever they are needed in the world. Thank you!
- April and May: Heifer Project - Shares of animals for families worldwide
- June: School's Out Block Party
- June, July, and August: St. Andrew's Potato Project
- September and October: Church World Service Blanket Appeal
- In October we will be collecting donations for CWS. Early in 2020 their warehouse was stocked with blankets and kits. Each year we have been able to give to this cause. Because they were ready, from January to June they provided sleeping options for evicted families, supplies for the jobless, school kits, and much more. Donations may be made in your regular offering envelope under special offering for “CWS”. Checks should be made payable to St. Andrews U.M. Church. There are many people still in need of our help. Thank you for helping "blanket the world with love."
- November: Salvation Army Christmas Stockings
- December: Red Bird Mitten Tree for Red Bird in Kentucky
- We collected 60 winter items this year to send to Kentucky. As I boxed them up, I was so amazed at all the beautiful colors and variety of items. Thank you to all of those that donated and the ones that helped set up and take down the tree. Somewhere in Kentucky people will be warmer this winter because of you!
